Born and raised in San Jose, California, Shawna Khorasani has always been an avid lover of stories and movies. After graduating with two English Literature degrees, she created, produced, directed, and shot an independent full-length LGBTQ literary webseries. She fell in love with filmmaking and telling LGBTQ+ stories, and since then, has taught herself by attending countless workshops, seminars, mixers, and working on several film sets all over the San Francisco Bay Area. As a queer woman with an immigrant parent, Shawna firmly believes in telling stories for, about, and by the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and marginalized groups. In her eyes, only then can positive and accurate media representation of such groups begin to flourish and become the norm. Shawna’s long-term goal is to found a production company that will host and fund film projects created by members of any of the communities listed above.
