The World Without You
Actress / Producer

After years of devoting her life to her family, and to nursing, Suzanne Johnson finally listened to her heart and made the leap from being a mother and nurse to following her dream of an acting career. She began her journey by enrolling in acting classes and combing the internet for casting announcements, gamely submitting herself for every part she thought would be a good fit.

In her first feature film, Empty Space, a powerful drama, she was cast as a waitress in a rural diner trapped in an abusive relationship. After that role, she was hooked. A series of parts followed in several shorts, student films and features.

What would be the next big step? After she read the best-selling novel The World Without You by Joshua Henkin, she decided to develop and produce it into a film as well as star in it. The lead role of Marilyn really spoke to her.  Marilyn Is a mother of four adult children and a doctor, who Is dealing with the death of her youngest child and only son, Leo, a journalist killed while on assignment In the Middle East.  Suzanne, a retired nurse with 3 adult children could relate to so much of Marilyn’s character trajectory.

Suzanne was joined by an all-star cast Including Chris Mulkey, James Tupper, Perrey Reeves, the late Lynn Cohen and Radha Mitchell, who also served as the associate producer. The World Without You made Its festival debut at Dances With Films, and Is also showing on Jewish Life TV.
