Writer / Lead Actor
Anna Hardwick is an actor, writer and producer working in film, television, new media and theatre in Toronto and internationally. She wrote and produced two short films, the latest being Orchid, which won the Toronto ACTRA Women’s Committee award and was incubated in the Women On Screen program. It premiered at the Toronto International Short Film Festival and is currently playing on the National Screen Institute’s Online Short Film Festival. As a producer, Anna produced and starred in the North American premiere of Cancer Time, secured the rights to the world premiere of John Patrick Shanley’s A Woman Is a Secret and produced and performed in the critically-acclaimed production at The Theatre Centre, Toronto. The production also dedicated efforts towards Community Involvement by hosting a new underwear and feminine hygiene product drive to support Sistering.org. Hardwick was the Winner of the Teens Talk Jury Prize from the Teens in Residence at The Theatre Centre. As a founding member of Project Undertow, Anna performed in and produced the Canadian premiere of Sarah Ruhl’s Melancholy Play, a sold-out, critical success. She also secured funding from the Canada Council to work with Josette Bushell-Mingo of the National Theatre of Sweden to learn about Deaf and hearing theatrical practices and co-developed the play To A Flame with Nightwood Theatre and Tyst Teater. Anna has performed in theatres across Canada; recently acted opposite Tracey Ullman in FX’s Mrs. America, guest starred on Murdoch Mysteries, performed in the Oscar-winning film Birdman and played the lead in the upcoming thriller Gone.
